One of Masonry’s governing bodies, Metropolitan Grand Lodge, made its charitable activities even more visible last Thursday by parking the first of two ‘Super Hi-Lift’ turntable fire engine vehicles outside the building where hundreds of London Freemason’s met for their annual meeting.
And, in the process, we completed our promise of a gift of £2.5 million made 2 years ago to fund the purchase of two such vehicles for the London Fire Brigade to meet the needs of Londoners caught in burning high rise buildings.
The previous fund-raising campaign of London Freemason’s led to us donating £2 million to double the number of London air ambulances from one to two thereby securing far more reliable coverage for Londoners in need of emergency medical treatment.
